That mop of unruly hair, those piercing eyes, the cheekbones that you can “cut your hand slapping” and, of course, the voice. Benedict Cumberbatch donned the deerstalker, albeit reluctantly, slipped into the shoes of the “world’s only consulting detective” and left us breathless. Cumberbatch’s Sherlock (the bbc series) is a little madder, a wee bit sociopathic and a whole lot more rude than his predecessors, but that’s where lies the appeal, the *** appeal. His arrogance — “Look at you lot. You’re all so vacant. Is it nice not being me? It must be so relaxing” — makes him hotter. And we love what he does to a coat and muffler, not to mention a plain white bedsheet!jensen ackles
The man is gorgeous. Period. Okay, make that super gorgeous. Jensen Ackles, who has given life and popularity to Supernatural’s Dean Winchester, is testosterone on the move (first STAR World, now AXN). The 34-year-old hottie’s enticing smile and beguiling charm turn our legs to jelly. We love him with the stubble and we love him without it. A lot of his popularity hinges on Winchester’s persona — that dry humour, the fearlessness, the thirst for adventure and the fiercely protective attitude towards brother Sam. He’s the only man on this planet who can make bow legs look hot. And on the Internet, there are websites dedicated to the Ackles freckles!
adam brody
There’s something about Adam Brody that makes all women under (and sometimes even over) 25 go “Awwww”! Brody’s Seth Cohen in The .C. woke the world, or, more specifically, the teen kingdom to the coolness of the geek (was aired on Zee Cafe). As the affable, talkative and often self-deprecating Seth, Brody was a huge hit with the oestrogen brigade. There is something about that lean build, curly locks and klutzy charm that make girls feel like hugging him and taking him home to mum. He may not be the guy you want to do the dirty with, but he’s definitely the one you can imagine walking into the sunset with.
MISHA COLLINS
While Jensen Ackles may walk away with the majority of female attention, there are also many who drool over Misha Collins, the poker-faced angel Castiel from Supernatural (AXN). The man with the conventional good looks has women worldwide succumbing to his charm. His eccentric ways — he was a carpenter, moved on to the White House and ultimately found his calling in front of the camera — contribute to his popularity. For many, it is those sea-blue eyes that are the perfect reason to lust after Collins. After all, who can resist an angel?
JAMES DENTON
The man may be inching towards 50 — he’s 49 — but he sure doesn’t look it. James Denton — aka the hunk with the perfect jawline — is deliciously good looking. Whether as the stern yet ***y judge Augustus Ripley in Philly or the charmer Mike Delfino in Desperate Housewives (STAR World), this man sure knows how to turn it (and us) on. Ripley’s stoic black robe or Delfino’s casual denims and tees, Denton looks drool-worthy in everything — and nothing. Add to that the easy charm, the emerald green eyes and the irresistible *** appeal and you have the perfect, er, package.
MATT BOMER
The ***y actor who plays expert forger and ex-thief Neal Caffrey in White Collar is a woman’s wild fantasy come true. The casual elegance — the slicked-back hair and impeccable suits or the mussed-up look in casual polo necks — is oh-so-edible. Bomer has made us fall in love with men who wear ties and, of course, hats. We love the twinkling eyes, the wicked ‘go-weak-in-the-knees’ smile and the oodles of charm. Bomer’s homo***ual status may have broken a few female hearts, but it hasn’t stopped most — the t2 girl gang included! — from drooling over this dreamboat. We eagerly await the next fix of Caffrey the Cool One (on STAR World).
ED WESTWICK
He may not be conventionally good looking, but as the saying goes, there’s something to be said about Ed. The man who plays the deliciously hedonistic Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl (next on Zee Cafe) has us floored with his flamboyance. The wicked smirk, the mischievous twinkle in his eyes and his ‘my way or the highway’ attitude adds to his devilish charm. He makes bad look so good that so many women want him to own them. And when he says things like, “I know I am hot… not just hot, but smouldering… the kind that will singe you”, we can’t help but feel the heat.
MICHAEL C. HALL
He may be a serial killer, but he is on a mission to cleanse our streets of evil. As Dexter Morgan in Dexter, Michael C. Hall is the reason why women all over the world tune in to the crime drama (STAR World). Not conventionally good looking — though we can drown in those amber eyes — Hall’s deep-set jaw and no-nonsense attitude do it for us. And the combination of good-and-evil is the
Hall-mark! The fact that he has bounced back after battling cancer makes him even more of a hero.
jon Hamm
As the suave and often secretive Don Draper in Mad Men, Jon Hamm is charm personified (FX). Though on the wrong side of 40, the man with the piercing eyes and the ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ demeanour makes women of all ages lust after him. Hamm’s Draper — a fiercely ambitious ad honcho — is the quintessential anti-hero that no woman can resist. The character’s a cad who constantly cheats on his wife, doesn’t talk much and is an enigma who won’t tolerate any intrusion, but Hamm’s charm and virility almost make Draper seem like the perfect man. Almost.
IAN SOMERHALDER
Move over Robert Pattinson, this one is our hottest vampire of the moment. Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries (was aired on Zee Cafe) has women smitten, from six to 60. Again, the bad boy appeal — leather jackets, badass attitude (Damon hates his brother, feeds on innocents and generally loves causing mayhem) — makes him hot, hot, hot. What ups his HQ (hotness quotient, sillies) are those gorgeous eyes, the brooding intensity and the smouldering looks. Also, the ***y grin and the way he raises those eyebrows! The fact that Ian is an activist off screen — from animal care to environment preservation — doesn’t hurt the image either.
D***ID DUCHOVNY
Which woman wouldn’t lust for Hank Moody? The troubled novelist in ‘soft-***’ TV series Californication (FX) is without morals but that’s what makes him so attractive. That this gorgeous actor sought rehab for his real-life *** addiction four years ago makes his wanton character that much more real. His Moody loves estranged wife Karen and dotes on his daughter Becca, but sleeps with 20 other women at the same time. Of course, it’s a far cry from the serious and suave FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder in everyone’s favourite The X-Files. But that David Duchovny — did you guys know he’s 51?! — can act out such opposite roles with such perfection makes him, well, near-perfect.
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS
NPH may not be your conventional drool-bucket or hot-bod hero — far from it — but he sure does manage to hold his own. That baby face made him a household name in his Doogie Howser M.D. days but now those dimples, laugh lines and blond crop make him cheekily irresistible. Oh and ‘Haaave you met Barney?’ No one on TV can suit-up quite like him. We love how Neil manages to pull off the ridiculous, hilarious and adorable alpha-male role of Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother (STAR World). Off-screen we heart how he is unabashedly in love with his partner David Burtka and their two kids, Gideon and Harper.
SIMON BAKER
This Aussie actor who plays Patrick Jane, a consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation in The Mentalist, has women’s hearts doing SRK-style cartwheels. We love his “cool professor” look in the Mentalist (Zee Cafe), complete with three-piece suits. We love how his eyes crinkle up when he laughs (and he does that a lot as Jane). We love those gorgeous golden locks and we love those dreamy bedroom eyes. Here’s a modern-day Tarzan answering to the name Jane!
